Sad news on the Salt Lake City music club front, as Club Vegas is closing its doors Wednesday after nearly a decade providing a fine spot for both local bands and touring acts.---

This message was posted on the club's Facebook page this morning:%uFFFD

"Sadly, tomorrow (Wednesday) we will be shutting our doors for good. Due to the economic crash and constant struggles after nearly 10 years in the industry, we must bid you all farewell and hope for all of our fans the best of luck in life. We well never forget the memories we have all shared and love you all. I am nearly in tears as I write this....."

Club Vegas has always been a haven for hard-hitting bands, and it will be tough for local metalheads to find another club as happy to host sets by both up-and-comers and established acts. And given the situation with the (lack of) available liquor licenses, there is no guarantee another club will be able to replace the big black rectangle on 400 West that housed Club Vegas.

In other words: This is bad news for the club's personnel, bad news for local music fans and bad news for the diversity of the SLC music scene. If you have the time and inclination, visit the club's Facebook page and let 'em know you'll miss Club Vegas.
