When most of Salt Lake City is eating or relaxing after a long day at the office, Steve Williams is serving up jazz music on KUER 90.1 from 8 p.m. to midnight every weeknight. If he’s in the mood for food after he signs off, Williams will usually hit up the drive-thru Del Taco on 400 South or the Village Inn. “One of the chefs has been there for many years and knows how I like everything,” he says. But, though Williams “used to go out all the time after work,” he says, “unless I find friends who want to join me, I kinda find myself alone in those hours.”

So, besides all-night breakfast joints, where is the late-night crowd these days? Though the city’s dining options do dwindle after 9 p.m., there are still places where late-night workers and worshippers of the night can dine on quality cuisine until midnight or later. We’ve compiled a list of nine, as well as a few of the bars that up the ante on standard bar snacks and keep their kitchens open late.
