Alta Lodge is surrounded by mountains, but the cuisine is not your typical lodge fare. In winter, the restaurant offers tasty sandwiches, soups, salad and daily specials for lunch to both guests and the general public. A scrumptious four-course dinner is available to outside guests on a reservation basis. The menu ranges from a Thai chicken to baja white five-spice shrimp. At Alta Lodge, there’s definitely something for every taste, which is perhaps why this mountaintop location was one of author William F. Buckley’s favorites.
