A brief history of Arctic Circle: In 1924 an entrepreneur named Don Carlos Edwards put up a tiny refreshment stand during a Pioneer Day celebration in a small Northern Utah town. Although he didn't know it then, that stand was the beginning of a fast food icon that now spans the Western United States. Carlos' stand became Carlos Bar-B-Q in Salt Lake City and nine years -- in 1950 -- later he opened his first Arctic Circle, specializing in items like "Brown Toppers" and "Ranch Burgers." Arctic Circle is also said to be the originator of Utah's ubiquitous fry sauce. Today, you'll find Black Angus burgers, halibut, chicken and a selection of salads on the menu, along with "above the rim" shakes and malts and, of course, fry sauce.
