Big Bad Voodoo Daddy swung their career into gear after appearing in the 1996 cult-classic Swingers. They were “Money, baby, money,” and helped breathe life into America’s swing craze. Unlike a lot of late-’90s music—all those boy bands—BBVD didn’t suck. Their albums rocked (or was it still tapes way back then?) and were even better if you could dance. While you won’t be able to spin, jump or flip your dance partner at Abravanel Hall, you can still head-bob, foot-tap and hip-shake from your seat.

BBVD has been invited back to join Utah Symphony after a sold-out 2006 performance at Deer Valley. Directed by associate conductor David Cho, Utah Symphony will play a set of classic pieces from Hollywood films. Then, the zoot-suited BBVD will accompany them for a longer second set of swingin’ classics. Bring a date and grab a drink (beforehand) because “You & Me and the Bottle Makes Three (Tonight).” Go Daddy-O.
