Curry x 10: Congratulations to Mona Nisar and her family, owners of Curry in a Hurry, as they celebrate the restaurant’s 10th anniversary. “We want to give back to our community that has supported us all these years,” Mona said. And boy did they ever! Last Wednesday, the folks at Curry in a Hurry fed hordes of anniversary celebrants free curry plates for lunch. It’s been 10 years, and I’m still trying to pry the secret Curry in a Hurry chicken korma recipe from them. Curry in a Hurry is located at 2020 S. State and phone number is 467-4137. n

Go Wild! As much as I hated to see Avenues Bakery close, the Wild Grape bistro, which recently opened in Avenues Bakery’s old location at 481 E. South Temple, has already created a bit of buzz. Warm, friendly ambiance and service, nice wine-by-the-glass selection, killer lamb burgers, Angus beef sliders, fresh escolar. I’m not ready to review Wild Grape just yet, but my early prediction is you’re gonna like this one. Phone them at 746-5565 or visit them online at WildGrapeBistro.com.

White (truffle) Xmas: If you’re still looking for the perfect holiday gift, consider Cristiano Creminelli’s white truffle salami. The Italian-born Springville, Utah, artisan employs rare white Alba truffles from Italy to make his special gift-boxed, limited-batch salami saying, “This is just the kind of small indulgence that will make it a happy holiday.” You can find Creminelli sausages at Tony Caputo’s Market & Deli (314 W. 300 South, phone 531-8669) or at Creminelli.com.
