Allison Fisher, of Public Citizen’s Climate and Energy Program, writes that not one word in the presidential election was said about fossil fuel and relationship to meteorology.

I agree, albeit for different reasons. It seems all too often when we give directions, it is (tacitly) assumed that the mode of transport is an automobile. I am two years shy of 60, and it has only been in the past several years that several leftist groups have begun giving directions using public transportation.

After automobile, when people travel it is always either by airliner or cruise ship. When was the last time—other than the vice-president, let us give Joe credit—you heard of travel by train?

If we are not honest about how we use fossil fuel ourselves, how can we expect it from others?

For the record, I have been flexitarian since May 1992, and our family traveled by Amtrak until 2011, when Mother got too old.

So, I salute those who set an example for others to follow, beginning with Ed Begley Jr.—who bought his first electric automobile in the 1970s.
