Keys on Main (242 S. Main) recently made some changes to its weekly schedule starting with Monday, swapping jazz for open-mic night. Guests are welcome to test their vocal/guitar/piano skills with original material or covers, though might we suggest saving the tributes for karaoke on Tone Deaf Tuesdays? The rest of the week is all about Dueling Pianos: a concept based largely on audience participation for requests, with patrons encouraged to outbid others on what songs gets played on the keys—if the other requests are truly abysmal. On one evening, attempts to bring Garth Brooks to life were consistently shut down in a hot bidding war with more than $100 at stake.

Celebrate a newly remodeled Downtown Hookah Lounge (268 S. Main) August 8. Cash prizes and inventive drinks are planned for big reopen next Saturday. The local club recently installed new pool tables for those interested in ball breaking on Main Street (not the security-guard tackling kind, though, just regular old billiards), and the venue is now offering free pool six days a week. Look for additional updates in the near future including the upstairs lounge’s transformation into a Love Saced sultan’s palace. For an interesting treat, substitute flavored liquor for water in the bottom of the Hookah bases—now replete with rotating colored lights. Refreshing Pucker flavor with peach shisha as a great way to puff away the summer heat with pizzazz.
