Lake Effect: A Hot Tip!

Sent by an anonymous reader on his Blackberry:
“Just read your column on celebs behaving badly [‘Celeb Fever,’ Aug. 9]. You could have included Dina Lohan getting kicked off a Delta flight to Utah.

“I happened to see it happen. JFK to SLC, flight 1581. My assumption is that Lindsay [Lohan] was going into rehab here, and I think I was proven correct. I wrote it all up because I was e-mailing my pals the saga as it evolved.”

This space, long used to register notably quirky Utah events, has instead been experimenting with breathless celebrity-sighting reports. And never before has the column generated any decent tips or, indeed, any reader response at all other than kilobytes of hate mail from members of online support groups.

Apparently, Hollywood celebs are what the readers want. Unfortunately, having spent more time in Seattle than Los Angeles, we’d be more likely to recognize Dina Martina than Dina Lohan, even if they both fell over our tray-table.

So keep those tips coming, especially ones about quirky local events.
