Marcee Blackerby and Matthew Choberka

Mixed-media works can be a challenge for viewers—not as clean as oils on a canvas, not as obviously concrete as a sculpture. Finch Lane Gallery’s Art Barn brings together pieces by Utah artist Blackerby and Choberka to explore ideas of war and isolation.

Blackerby’s three-dimensional boxes are a familiar part of the Utah art landscape, presenting self-contained worlds that are sometimes whimsical, sometimes unsettling. Choberka incorporates acrylics, chalk, pencil and other media into canvases and panels full of tense cityscapes rippling with color and energy. Visit with the artists tonight and un-mix their media.
