Your personal chef. If, like me, you become first obsessed and then suicidal while cooking during the Christmas holidays, you might want to keep Mike Roberts’ phone number handy. Mike’s been cooking in various capacities around Utah for years; I know him primarily as an ace barbecue and chili cook-off chef. Well, now he’s created a personal chef and catering business called the No Name Gourmet, which offers services ranging from romantic dinners for two in your home to catered events like bridal or baby showers, business lunches and dinners, and everything in between. Chef Roberts will do all the shopping, and cook and clean up in your home if you like (or elsewhere if that’s your preference). He also loves to teach cooking, so lessons are another service the No Name Gourmet offers. For menu samples and lots more information, go to NoNameGourmet.com.

Mondavi at Sundance. On Wednesday, Dec. 10, the Tree Room at Sundance Resort will be the site of a special wine-pairing dinner featuring the wines of Charles Krug Winery, paired with a select menu from Sundance executive chef Mark Shoup. Charles Krug Winery’s Peter Mondavi will be in attendance to discuss and answer questions about his top-notch wines. This is one you don’t want to miss. The cost for the Peter Mondavi/Charles Krug Winery dinner at Sundance is $115 per person (food $70/wine $45). Reservations are required and can be made by phoning Sundance at 801-223-4200. DiRoNA babe. Congrats to Karen Olson, owner of Metropolitan restaurant. She’s been named as vice chairwoman of the board of directors of DiRoNA, the Distinguished Restaurants of North America (DiRoNA.com), an organization created to promote the fine-dining industry.
