We are a family making a move to the other side of the country to secure employment in these economically hard times. After flying out to Chattanooga, Tenn., and meeting with a couple of the area schools, we came back to Utah to find that Alta High School has no one on staff to transfer records to our son’s new school. Without them, he cannot enroll in the proper classes, if he can enroll at all. We were told that no one would be in the office until Aug. 3—a little late, since he starts school in Tennessee at the same time.
We contacted the school district and they simply said they were sorry and there was nothing they could do because all the transcripts come from the school level. They also mentioned we were among a large number of families having the same issue, with some needing the transcripts to get into college. We are not sure why a school would send everyone authorized to access transcripts to trainings, vacations and meetings at the same time, leaving no one to help transferring students. We know kids transfer all year long, but think summer would be an exceptionally busy time.
