People who believe in an all-knowing god who does 24/7 surveillance should have no trouble with the spying of NSA or the constant monitoring in department stores or having your car’s license plate being read by a drone aircraft.

As invasive as all of the above is, apparently the technology does not yet exist for the government or any other entity to see into one’s mind or bedroom or bathroom (unless one is involved in a nasty breakup of a marriage).

More and more psychologists and neurologists are studying the relationships between those who believe in an-all-seeing god and mental illness. Irrational fears of devils, hell and continually being judged by an all-powerful guy in the sky can certainly take its toll on a person’s mental health.

One only has to Google “religion” and “mental illness” to learn more about all of this.

It’s sad and frightening to realize that Utah is governed by people who believe in talking snakes, people rising from the grave and people being sucked up to heaven, apparently by a device similar to that tube thing at banks’ drive-up windows.

It’s little wonder that Halloween is celebrated so vigorously in Utah. It’s a very little stretch from people flying off to the Celestial Kingdom to ghosts dangling from tree branches.
