In the era of the Internet and Kindle, print is supposed to be dying a slow, painful death. Apparently, however, nobody told a slew of talented Utah-based writers that they should be considering other occupations—which is fortunate for all of us.

And what better place than The King’s English—an independent bookseller whose shelves are full of locally created works—for providing a regular forum for these writers? The first in what is planned to be a quarterly roundup of new local writing talent, tonight’s event is scheduled to include at least seven authors providing a taste of their works. Check out Ryan Shattuck (Revolutions for Fun and Profit), Susanna Barlow (What Peace There May Be: A Memoir), Bonn Turkington (Velwythe), Steven Bates (The Fortuitous Redemption of Mordekiah Liebovitch), Lisa Mangum (The Hourglass Door) and more as they remind us why the best in local writing might still be ahead of us.
