Put a cork in it!
The New Yorker restaurant is host to a wine cellar with more than 1,000 bottles and offers wines by the glass ranging in price from $10 to $39. However, if you’d prefer to drink something from your own cellar during lunch or dinner, The New Yorker is making it easier with a new “no corkage fee” policy. Yup, you can now BYOB at The New Yorker without being penalized. Now that’s a progressive policy! The New Yorker is at 60 W. Market St. Make reservations by phoning 801-363-0166 or online at

New Ski Pub
Up at Solitude Mountain Resort, there’s a nice new option for apr%uFFFDski. Or, for that matter, a glass of wine or beer while taking a break from Solitude’s uncrowded ski runs: The Argenta Pub. Located inside the Moonbeam Lodge at the base of the resort, Argenta Pub is a cozy place to meet and kick back for bar snacks and drinks. Solitude Resort, 801- 534-1400,

Asia on 2nd
J. Wong’s Asian Bistro is now open daily at 163 W. 200 South in downtown Salt Lake City, including Sunday. It’s an attractive, contemporary bistro with a full bar and satay grill. I tried the Kung Pao shrimp lunch special ($8.50) which comes with a choice of fried or steamed rice and two cheese-stuffed wontons. The Kung Pao was great, but I’d advise Wong to lose the icky-tasting wontons. There’s a reason you don’t find Philly cream cheese-filled wontons in China. Please don’t make us eat them here. For reservations, phone 801-350-0888.
