Three events tie together Salt Lake City’s own version of the noted “Fashion Week” celebrations in more metropolitan centers of the art of haute couture. The partnership between several sponsors and venues aims to showcase hot fashion trends and locally designed work.

The activities kick off Saturday, May 15, with Fashion Night Out at The Depot, showcasing local retail lines from Fresh, Fice, Peach, Uptown Cheapskate and others, to forward-looking indie styles not available at mall stores. The Salt Lake Fashion Stroll on Friday, May 21 coincides with the lively Gallery Stroll crowd on Broadway starting at 6:30 p.m., with fashion shows from students of the Salt Lake Community College Fashion Institute and other local designers on the half-hour. The biannual stroll has for several years shown off street-smart looks created by locals looking to hit it big in the world of hip attire, already available in nearby boutiques.

Sandwiched between is a screening of the film Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton, May 19, 8 p.m. at Club Elevate, 15 W. 200 South. The portrait of two renowned fashion designers is not widely available, so it‘s a rare look into an exclusive world. “We wanted to weave the events together and create a full week of style-centric happenings that showcase the talent we have in this city,” said Matt Monson, Fashion Stroll’s director and Thread spokesman.
