This year’s 15th annual symposium by the Wallace Stegner Center is focused on one simple question: “Can we create a civilization that is both prosperous and environmentally healthy?” To explore the myriad complications inevitably raised in the wake of posing such a query, this two-day symposium will bring together scientists, economists, agriculturists, ecologists, architects, attorneys and policy analysts who are more than willing to offer opinions and perspectives, shared from their illustrious positions in industry, academia and nonprofit organizations the globe over.

Speakers will concentrate on sustainability’s three “Es”—environment, economic development and equity—hoping to revolutionize societal thinking in a way that can generate real change. The big aim is to ultimately provide a clear path that meets the needs of both our planet and the people who inhabit it as we venture into the 21st century.
