It started with the dream of an unconventional honeymoon and blossomed into a multifaceted humanitarian-aid project stretching from Ghana to England and Utah where, tonight, residents have a chance to participate in the African Heartwood Project’s impressive mission. The AHP’s basic model is to sell hand-made drums in the states and send the proceeds back to the villages where the instruments were constructed. But volunteers also hope to provide vocational training for deaf students, increase water supplies in Alantaso and help support an orphanage in Bububuram. Proceeds from tonight’s concert, featuring Jinga Boa, Kairo by Night, The Gorgeous Hussies, African Drum & Dance Ensemble, Incendiary Circus, and DJ Danny Dance, will benefit the Alantaso project. Guests will also be treated to a silent auction, African market and cash bar. Pierpont Place, 132 W. Pierpont Ave., 7 p.m. Info: DjembeDirect.com
