There wasn’t much to Eric Peterson’s story about Orrin Hatch, Hatch’s son on the board of Medallion Bank, and federal TARP money [“Bailout Jamboree,” May 21, City Weekly].

Peterson points out that Orrin Hatch, like the majority of senators, voted to invest federal funds in banks to encourage them to lend more. Peterson points out that Hatch has a son who sits on the board of a small local bank. Like many banks, that one took TARP money.

There follow a couple of columns wherein Peterson seems to search for evidence that there is some bad connection between those facts. He doesn’t present any such evidence. It’s all fun to bash Republicans in a progressive paper, even when they’re already on the run nationally, but when your case is bupkis, it’s bupkis.
