When W Lounge closed its doors for good a couple months back, the Salt Lake City club community boohooed until owner Casey Staker announced his next project, Zest Kitchen & Bar (275 S. 200 West, 801-859-8505). By day, this downtown spot hangs its hat on tasty organic, vegan dishes and specialty cocktails. But when the sun goes down, Zest shifts gears and serves up a heavy dose of certified-organic ass-shaking. Redirecting the energy from W Lounge’s cornerstone evening, Stir-Fridays, Staker, along with resident DJ Flash & Flare, have already managed to attract some talented beat conductors, such as Sines, Zack Marben and, coming up Friday, Oct. 5, electro-funk slayer Bello. While your swanky self is cutting some rug, take advantage of the late-night eats, the spicy jalapeño margaritas or party on the cheap with some $4 PBRs. Open Tuesday through Saturday 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.
