The Senate Site blog this afternoon posted a cryptic description pertaining to an announcement tomorrow regarding "one of our members."
That will be during a 9:30 a.m. State Capitol press conference. KTVX-Channel 4 is reporting the action will relate to Sen. Chris Buttars.
In most any other state, Buttars would be formally censured on the Senate floor for his latest rant against gays and lesbians. Just as he did last year with racist remarks, the man brings embarrassment on the entire Senate--and the House, too. He shames the whole state of Utah nearly every time he opens his mouth. We are better than this.
Senate President Mike Waddoups has defended Buttars because he was speaking to documentary maker Reed Cowan as "Chris Buttars." Don't buy it. Buttars has a reputation only because he is an elected state senator. There is no private Chris Buttars in spreading this social and cultural hate. Take him at his word, fellow senators. What you see is what you get, and he ain't gonna change. Buttars is an embarrassment to all of us. How long will he get away with it?
