No Chamber Music for You

We're all feeling the economic pinch, and local arts organizations are no different. Staffs are being reorganized, and performing groups are arranging their seasons with an eye toward maximizing their audience.

The Utah Symphony -- though still searching for a permanent musical director -- announced its 2009-2010 season this week. The regular schedule of Masterworks and pops (re-named "Entertainment Series") concernts remains intact, but gone from the roster are the New Music Series and Classical Chamber Series. According to Jeff Bram, Vice-President of Artistic Operations, "Both series have been a pleasure for audiences and performers alike, but during this current economic situation, and in order to preserve the quality of our Masterworks programming, we’ve had to make the tough, but temporary decision to put them on hold."

More information on the upcoming season -- including guest appearances by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and The Temptations -- can be found here.
