We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

You can help by making a one-time or recurring donation on PressBackers.com, which directs you to our Galena Fund 501(c)(3) non-profit, a resource dedicated to help fund local journalism. It is never too late. It is never too little. Thank you. DONATE

Justin Townes Earle, White Denim, Tonight!

If you play your cards right, you can pack in a few nights worth of music into one spectacular April evening. First, check out the long drink of water that is Justin Townes Earle (hey good lookin!) performing his country fried tunes at The Heavy Metal Shop. The 6 p.m. all-ages in-store precedes his gig opening for Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit at The State Room starting at 8 p.m. Since the new, well-received venue prefers its shows to end at a reasonable hour, follow that bill with some tasty White Denim at the Urban Lounge. The Austin trio absolutely lives up to the hype onstage, generating white-hot post-punk-jazz-indie rock that sends each member careening across the stage. Totally dynamic. If none of the above registers as a good time, then by all means don't miss sweet-and-salty British pop sensation Lily Allen at In the Venue. Damn if her hits aren't catchy!
