If you've already had the pleasure of visiting Salt Lake Art Center's current exhibit "Branded and On Display", you know what an amazing collection of works it is. If you haven't, now you have one more reason.
Tomorrow, April 15, from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m., Illinois-based artist Conrad Bakker (an untitled work is pictured) will be giving a public Art Talk on how his pieces fit into the exhibits overall exploration of consumerism, corporatization and the ominipresence of branding and logos. In an economic downturn, how do we connect our need for healthy business to our concerns about marketing messages everywhere we turn? What do we buy when we buy a familiar "brand"? Ask those questions and more tomorrow.
