We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

You can help by making a one-time or recurring donation on PressBackers.com, which directs you to our Galena Fund 501(c)(3) non-profit, a resource dedicated to help fund local journalism. It is never too late. It is never too little. Thank you.

Tea'd Off

The last tea party I attended was hosted by my daughters Mikelle and Gina who were 5 and 6 at the time.  Even at that tender age they had enough sense to hold this event indoors out of the elements lest anything fall into their imaginary tea.

The headlines in this morning's paper shouts, "Conservatives rally on tax day".  "Tea party events aim to send Congress a message".  Where have these teetotalers been for the past 8 years?  The taxes these idiots are protesting are from the Bush policies for the two terms where the elephants trampled all over Washington, the Constitution, Civil Rights, will of the people, sucked up to big industry giving no-bid contracts to cronies of Cheney and refused to this day admit that they were lying to the world about reasons to go to war with Iraq.

So here we are today and fittingly enough it is raining and snowing on this media hyped and Talk Show/Fox News driven phony event.  An example of the stupidity we have in local elected office is Margaret Dayton who was dumb enough to include a tea bag with her tax returns.  She has no idea how much taxpayer money was flushed down the dumper because of these simp's did similar stunts and the IRS offices must check every tea bag to see if it is tea or something else like ricin or anthrax.

This entire comedy only illustrates how the GOP has been taken over by dimwits like Rush, Hannity, O'Reilly, Beck and their fellow travelers. The only place that any of these gatherings should take place is in front of W''s house, or Cheney's, Rove's or any of their accomplices.

For me, I'm going to the nearest pub and hoist a few in thankfulness that none of the aforementioned are in charge any longer. Cheers!
