Another local roller-derby bout I didn't make it to last weekend was the Wasatch Roller Derby's benefit bout for Primary Children's Medical Center at Hollywood Connection in West Valley City. WRD's Queen Anne's Revenge reports:
Suture Fancy (blue team) battled the I.V. Leaguers (white
team) in a neck and neck bout benefiting Primary Children's
Suture Fancy tried to break down the Leaguers defense while Queen Anne's Revenge, Kinky Killbasa and Drewish Princess jammed, and very hard hitters Moxie Rotten and Gunnin’ Geisha left their mark. Hydro Pain was out on injury after only a few jams, but her fellow team-mates picked up the slack. Tenacious Dread had the majority of penalties for Suture Fancy and was almost ejected during the first half.
The I.V. Leaguers played a smart bout with Honey Delunatic
as captain, resulting in increased game play for both Lady Rage (noted
"most improved skater" by Queen Anne's Revenge) and Venom Strike as
jammers. Dr. Pain, Honey Delunatic and Medusa Damage proved to be impenetrable
on the front line.
Wasatch Roller Derby continues to grow and improve in skill
with each bout. So far this season, over $1,000 has been given to charity after
only 2 events. For our next event, we're finally bringing roller derby to
