We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

You can help by making a one-time or recurring donation on, which directs you to our Galena Fund 501(c)(3) non-profit, a resource dedicated to help fund local journalism. It is never too late. It is never too little. Thank you.

CW Revolt: Tweet for Tehran!

Word is out that you can help out the reform protests in Iran, all from the comfort of your twitter account. Word is circulating that it may be possible to help fool Iranian state censors into thinking your Twitter is based out of Iran.

The Revolt can’t confirm how effective this measure is but it’s worth a shot. Change your Twitter settings to GMT 3:30 (Tehran time). Then change your city location to a city in Iran (Instead of just Tehran also try cities like Meybod, Tabriz, or Shiraz). The theory goes that by masking your feed as Iranian in origin, you can help obscure the source of true tweets coming from protesters in the country, from state police.

Again, it may be a crap-shoot, but there’s no harm in changing your settings for a short while, especially if it means it might help reformers stay connected with each other and the outside world.
