We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

You can help by making a one-time or recurring donation on, which directs you to our Galena Fund 501(c)(3) non-profit, a resource dedicated to help fund local journalism. It is never too late. It is never too little. Thank you.

Reapers Join Dollhouse

My ongoing obsessions with Joss Whedon's Dollhouse (barely renewed by Fox) and Reaper (totally canceled by The CW) not longer have to remain mutually exclusive: Reaper creators Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters have joined the writing staff of Dollhouse, hopefully insuring the previously too-damn-serious-for-its-own-good series will enjoy a shot of geektastic humor, if not a cameo by Ray Wise's perfect Satan--he could be behind the Dollhouse, after all ... right?

If anything, Dollhouse will still be funnier than it's scheduled fall lead-in on (groan) Friday nights, Til Death. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles wasn't enough to attract eyeballs on Friday nights before, so naturally Fox assumes their barely-tweaked version of According to Jim is going to help out Dollhouse. Or they're trying to kill it early in the season and launch So You Think You Can Outsmart a Fifth-Grader? or some shit.

Let the conspiracy theories fly ...
