Registration for the 2009 Snowbird Bluegrass Camp for Kids (July 10-12) is now closed, but Westminster College will be hosting another event just two weeks later where youth can gain hands-on experience playing a variety of musical genres.

Blue Sky Music Camp invited students ages 11-18 along with educators to participate in a whirlwind week of traditional Celtic, American folk, swing and gypsy jazz music. Students are encouraged to bring their voice, fiddle guitar, cello, viola, mandolin, bass, banjo…or whatever they play, and share in the excitement of folk music. This camp will help students find and magnify their own creativity and love for music, while augmenting their skills in a healthy, engaging environment.

Faculty include: Aaron Ashton, president and director of All Things Bowed; Ashley Stolworthy, communications professional; Ryan Tilby, director of All Things Plucked and Strummed; M.J. Wilson (violin, viola and guitar); Austin Weyand (finger-style guitar); Phillip Ashton (activities); Becca Moench (violin and viola).

Special guest instructors include: Ryan Shupe & the Rubber Band (including concert and Masterclass); Cassidy Duhadway (drum circle and percussion); Keith Sorenson (guest instructor teaching rhythm); Mary Beth Maziarz (vocals and songwriting); Lokalgrown (including concert and Masterclass)
