We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

You can help by making a one-time or recurring donation on, which directs you to our Galena Fund 501(c)(3) non-profit, a resource dedicated to help fund local journalism. It is never too late. It is never too little. Thank you.

Error McNair

As most of you know, ex quarterback for the NFL Tennessee Titans, Steve “Air” McNair was shot and killed on the 4th of July. Most likely, due to his extra marital affair with the woman who apparently shot him before offing herself with a single bullet to the head. McNair was a tough guy even by NFL standards, playing through injury after injury, and willing his team to the Super Bowl, even coming six feet away from winning it. Off the field, McNair was a soft spoken, respectable family man with 4 kids and a wife of 12 years. Obviously, he made some bad decisions with the company he kept outside of his family, and soon the full story will be clear, but it is apparent that his extra marital affair got him killed either by the association of, or at the hands of his 20 year old girlfriend. My father used to say “as soon as you compromise your morals and integrity, you cease to have them.” That mistake cost Steve McNair his life.
