Lost In Found

Some people’s missing items are others’ serendipity. What started with some girl’s angry note to her boyfriend mistakenly left on Davy Rothbart’s windshield in Ann Arbor, Michigan has evolved into Found Magazine, a literary enterprise that brought Rothbart appearances on David Letterman and some of the magazine’s more poignant stories on public radio program This American Life. Davy Rothbart came to Brewvies June 30 to tell some of these both heart-wrenching and hilarious tales, accompanied by his brother Peter, who has crafted a few of them into songs, like his lyrical ode based on a note debating whether to spend one's last money on beer or the last bus home. Do I have to tell you which one triumphed? Surprisingly, they’ve had a large amount of items sent to them from Utah. You can search for them here. The evening was a riotous good time, and no one who left the theater will look at crumpled-up scraps of paper on the ground the same way again.
