New Music Tuesday!

The release I'm most thrilled about today isn't actually a musical work but it did first air on MTV! That's right folks, July 14, 2009 marks the long-awaited officially official release of The State DVD. The influential sketch comedy series ran for three short seasons but it sure did a number on impressionable viewers who until now got their State fix via shitty YouTube/iTunes videos. Plus, the five-disc box set features commentary on each episode. Bonus!

Also out, The Dead Weather's Horehound which is much more eclectic than its single "Hang You From The Heavens" otherwise indicates. The Jack White/Alison Mosshart crazy-sexy-cool "supergroup" plays around with sweeping variations on heavy rock and funky dub throughout the full-length debut. Check the band live at The Depot August 18.

And you know Duff from Ace of Cakes is already clutching a copy of Strange Cousins from the West. His favorite band Clutch is back with more stripped-down all-American rock good for drinkin' and drivin' (separately, of course.)
