If any company was going to try and squeeze a buck out of the moon, it would have to be a Utah company. Moon Publicity, LLC out of West Valley City, has recently advertised that it is looking for investors interested in a unique business where “Robots are used to create several small ridges in the lunar dust over large areas that capture shadows and shape them to form logos, domain names or memorials.” ---
Yes, that’s right—robots.
According to the website the bidding starts to today to reserve the rights to 44 distinct regions of the moon where your advertisement could be placed.
Quoth the press release:
“Never in the history of advertising has the possibility of penetrating every market on Earth, reaching every person on Earth, and touching them at emotional level only possible with the beauty of the moon on a starlit night, been made available. Twelve billion eyeballs looking at your logo in the sky for several days every month.”
Nothing spells moonlit romance like looking up in the night sky and seeing “Viagra,” “Tyson Chicken” or perhaps “Shamwow!” beaming down on you from the heavens.A novel idea for the Utah company, although credit where credit is due—this plan was hatched a long time ago by the Tick nemesis, Chairface Chippendale.
