We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

You can help by making a one-time or recurring donation on PressBackers.com, which directs you to our Galena Fund 501(c)(3) non-profit, a resource dedicated to help fund local journalism. It is never too late. It is never too little. Thank you. DONATE

For pitchers, baseball has only one individual pinnacle goal. One masterpiece that cements your career whether you are a Cy Young winner or a 1 year flash in the pan...%uFFFD ---

The perfect game.

According to the New Baseball Dictionary, “a no-hitter in which no opposing player reaches first base, either by a base hit, base on balls, hit batter, or fielding error. According to me… 27 batters up, 27 batters out.

It had happened exactly 17 times in baseball history. It is a feat steeped in superstition. Announcers never say the words “no hitter” or “perfect game” because the thought of jinxing the pitcher is too much to bear.

Last night was #18 as Chicago White Six pitcher Mark Buehrle achieved the ultimate goal in a 5-0 win over Tampa Bay. This one also includes what might be the catch of the year by center fielder DeWayne Wise.

A great moment regardless of whether you are a fan or not…
