Ahhh the Major League Baseball deadline. Where an erroneous trade deadline is set, then not followed, then players are traded for another month. How? Well there is a waiver trade thing, then a waiver to block a trade thing, then an actual “no we really mean it no more trades” deadline a month later, then a final deadline sometime in the future.

Is it any wonder baseball is so screwed up? By definition, it is the LAST DATE by which something must be completed. It originated as an actual line drawn in the ground around a prison beyond which prisoners would be shot. Now that’s a deadline.
