We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

You can help by making a one-time or recurring donation on PressBackers.com, which directs you to our Galena Fund 501(c)(3) non-profit, a resource dedicated to help fund local journalism. It is never too late. It is never too little. Thank you. DONATE

Two local release shows his the scene this weekend. If you haven't planned out a show to go to yet, take one of these into consideration. --- First up Liquid Joe's plays host to a hip-hop release as Major Street Project put out its CD/DVD release. Not a lot has been given out about this double release from SEM, but the combined work of GeorgeLife, Bloswick, MC Blu and DeeJayAspect is bound to turn some heads with all four on one project. Definitely worth checking out. Backing them up with be Funk & Gonzo and MC Nevermind.

The down south tomorrow night, the first local release show from Velour since opening back up will be the new EP from Broke City titled No Thanks For The Ride. The band was promoting it heavily during recording and leading up to it as a full-length, but no reason given to sudden change. Joining them in playing Saturday will be The Trademark, The Material and the always enjoyable Gorgeous Hussies!

Go out, buy local, and stop listing to that damned Miley Cyrus album. That junk will give you cauliflower ear!
