We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

You can help by making a one-time or recurring donation on, which directs you to our Galena Fund 501(c)(3) non-profit, a resource dedicated to help fund local journalism. It is never too late. It is never too little. Thank you. DONATE

Super excited to see Dead Meadow tonight as the heavy rockers return to Kilby Court, Orange amps in tow. They'll be playing All Tomorrow's Parties (co-curated by The Flaming Lips) in NYC next weekend and we're lucky to experience their chest-rattling sound up close and personal in one of the city's most intimate venues.--- Salt Lake City psychedelic trio Furs is scheduled to open at 8 p.m. - don't be late!

Ain’t Got Nothing (To Go Wrong...

Also tonight, the mighty Modest Mouse headline In the Venue on the heels of their latest release, No One's First and You're Next, an odds-and-ends collection of unreleased rarities and b-sides. Their new video for "King Rat" is one of the coolest, most grotesque videos I've viewed in some time. Check it:

Oh, and Dave Matthews Band is playing a really big shoe at Usana Amphitheater. Now if only Scarecrow Boat were opening...

THIS JUST IN: DMB has canceled!

Says the publicist:

Regretfully, the September 1st performance at USANA Amphitheatre in West Valley City, UT has been postponed due to doctor-diagnosed strain on Dave Matthews’ vocal chords. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. At this time all other performances will continue as scheduled. Ticket holders should stand by for further information which will be posted as soon as it becomes available.

Does that mean Scarecrow Boat will take over the headlining spot?
