Fans of McSweeney's and cutting-edge literature, listen up:---

Tonight, authors Bill Cotter and Annie La Ganga will stop by Sam Weller's bookstore to read and sign from their respective latest works, "Fever Chart"(McSweeney's) and "Stoners and Self-Appointed Saints" (Red Hen Press). The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and is free to the public. More on the featured guests below:

Having spent most of his life medicated, electroshocked, and institutionalized, Jerome Coe finds himself homeless on the coldest night of the century—and so, with nowhere else to go, he accepts a ride out of New England from an old love's ex-girlfriend. It doesn't quite work out, but he make it to New Orleans, and a new life—complete with a bandaged hand, world-champion grilled-cheese sandwiches, and only the occasional psychotic break. Things get better, and then, of course, they get worse in Fever Chart.

Stoners and Self-Appointed Saints is a memoir told in a collage of monologues and poems about awkward grieving, bad judgment, and important stoners. Through lyrical passages, conversational stories, diary excerpts (and one silly sonnet) an artist’s life is revealed. A range of voices that are funny, depressed, deluded, idealistic, cynical, wise, compassionate, and warmly bitchy tell the story of a person determined to make a good life out of her creative mistakes, family traumas, and clumsy relationships. Stoners and Self-Appointed Saints is the first book written by Annie La Ganga that she didn’t print and staple together herself.
