We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

You can help by making a one-time or recurring donation on, which directs you to our Galena Fund 501(c)(3) non-profit, a resource dedicated to help fund local journalism. It is never too late. It is never too little. Thank you. DONATE

Deal or No Deal

Yesterday, everyone and their... uhhh dog, reported that reborn NFL quarterback Michael Vick ---

has a new sponsorship deal with Nike. Mike Principe, an agent for Vick announced that the new Eagles QB had signed a new deal with the “Big Swoosh.”

Hugs and kisses all around, Mikey & Nike, back in love.

Not so fast. Apparently Nike employees also read the “news” on the internet as well, and broke their ankles running to their phones to put out the following press release.

"Nike does not have a contractual relationship with Michael Vick. We have agreed to supply product to Michael Vick as we do a number of athletes who are not under contract with Nike."

Nike dropped Vick’s endorsement deal and pulled all of their Vick products from stores in 2007 after Vick was charged the whole dog fighting-killing-money-laundering thing.

In related news, I have signed a deal with Nike. The new “Coach G 2010” running/pacing the sideline shoe will be available by Christmas.
