In the world of political Face Bookin,’ you pretty much have to confirm every possible “friend” that comes along. Which makes you wonder how AG Mark Shurtleff is feeling now about the comment/challenge he received on Facebook Tuesday from Salt Lake City Councilman Soren Simonsen on healthcare.---

Shurtleff, who will be challenging Sen. Bob Bennett, R-Utah for his seat in 2010, never misses a chance to try and take a bite out of Bennett’s incumbency even going so far as to pillory Bennett for clapping during an Obama speech. Monday, Shurtleff took a Facebook swipe at challenger Bennet, by linking to an article critical of the Wyden-Bennett healthcare bill with the post:

“Wyden-Bennett Healthcare bill called a "sham compromise bill". I agree, it is government takeover of our healthcare system. What are your thoughts?”

Usually a politician’s FB friends are their FB supporters—a veritable FB voting block happy to reply to vacuous posts like proverbial kids at a parade cheering for candy. Usually, but not always as one sees from the last commenter’s post, District 7’s own Soren Simonsen:

“I think the bill has many merits. I like a national system. We're the only advanced nation that doesn't have one, and our people suffer for it. Think of it like public schools and  private schools. Public universities and private universities. Public health clinics and private health clinics. One size doesn't fit all. We need choices and greater accountability.

It's easy to lob general statements that something doesn't work. So what is your plan?”Now about that response…hmm as of Tuesday morning no reply has been posted back from Shurtleff. Of course he’s on to the next post by now.
