James Millner hit the nail on the head in his Trib Public Forum letter. --- At issue is not whether or not the LDS Church has a legal right to roust anybody it wants from its property; the fact that a religious organization is in the business of drawing up classification schemes delineating which social groups are worthy of exile seems -- un-Christian to say the least. (I'd say "worrying" is more like it.)

This passage is particularly thought-provoking:

Since a same-sex kiss prompted the LDS Church to post the sign, apparently homosexuals are not welcome. Trial and error will reveal who else the Latter-day Saints deem undesirable.

That'll be fun: As the years progress, will the warning sign need to grow longer and longer? "No dogs, gays, atheists, pagans, Democrats, pro-choice advocates, vegans, hippies, accordionists or post-structuralist filmmakers allowed."

After some point, it would save sign-replacement costs if the church simply posted who is allowed to step foot on that hallowed strip of Main Street: "Mormons and potential converts only."

This would spell the end of the all-inclusive image the church has been cultivating, but obviously the inclusivity thing hasn't been a top priority in recent years anyway.
