Dallin Oaks..."Help, I'm being attacked!"

Elder Dallin Oaks is now getting to feel like he is in the center of the wagons at Mountain Meadows.---

The LDS Church throws it's weight around like a bull elephant in heat and when somebody says, "HEY", it acts like they are the injured party.%uFFFD Oaks has his garmy's in a bunch because of reaction to the full court press "The" Church made over Prop 8 in California.%uFFFD The Church, in it's Sunday sermons, preached and beseached the faithful to do everything possible within and without their means financially, give money they don't even have,%uFFFDand door knock every spare moment of their lives to stop gay marriage from becoming legal in CALIFORNIA!

They already did this here in Utah which came as no surprise but this was California for Christ sakes.%uFFFD Now that people who are for gay rights, and many are not even gay, are saying nasty things about the LDS Church and Oaks is crying foul.

The only thing foul about this forelorn whining is the stench attached to Oaks blubbering.%uFFFD Oaks bombast says that freedom of religion is under increasing attack.%uFFFD This selfrighteous clown is wrapping himself and his church in the 1st Amendment to boot.

Coming from a learned scholar as Oaks I find this laughable and demeaning.%uFFFD The 1st Amendment has nothing to do with any church blowing it's followers donated money and calling them to arms on any issue before the public and protecting them from the consequences of their words and deeds.

Let's try this on for size: Amendment 1.%uFFFD Congress shall make no law respecting an extablishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceabley assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.%uFFFD That's it.%uFFFD Nothing about religion getting involved with political issues or protecting them from any backlash from those opposed to their position.%uFFFD Besides, as long as churches get away with all their goofy shit without having to pay taxes, they should have no say in any public policy.%uFFFD I mean all churches should pay their fair share if they want to be players in public policy.%uFFFD You already run this state overtly and covertly, what the fuck else do you want?

O.K. Dallin, show me where religion is under attack anywhere using the 1st Amendment gurantees?%uFFFD You don't like it because you fail to understand that words and actions do have consequences and when you shit all over an entire class of people they are going to fling some of it back.%uFFFD

I'm sorry but Oaks ranting has gotten me off track here.%uFFFD You have just as much freedom to worship anyway you want, anywhere you want and best of all you can do it without shitting on other people.%uFFFD Give it a try, you might find it liberating.
