The mandate for Season 4 of NBC's 30 Rock, premiering tonight: Fewer damn guest stars. The show is going to focus more on the many characters already on-hand; me, I'm looking forward to an arc all about Tracy Jordan entourage member DotCom. Come on, it would kill. ---
Tonight's first episode back, likewise, has Jack berating the TGS (The Girlie Show--which 30 Rock wisely never spends much time on) staff for being "out of touch with Middle America," who coincidentally don't watch 30 Rock. "We'll trick those race-car loving wide-loads into watching your lefty homoerotic propaganda hour yet!"
If only it could work in reality: Despite the awards and critical hype, 30 Rock (and the entire NBC Thursday Comedy lineup) regularly finishes fourth in the ratings, barely topping The CW. So you need to watch harder! A sneak preview of tonight's ep:
