We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

Bad Coaching in the NFL

Six weeks in and I already have a week 6 rant. ---

It's called Bad Coaching in the NFL.

• Jets coach Rex Ryan, who talks a lot, and talks tough. The irritating thing is he talks like he’s done something. Watching the end of the Jets/Buffalo game was like getting a root canal.

• Washington coach Jim Zorn. Are you the coach? Because if you’re the coach and your boss takes away your job calling the plays… you’re not the coach.

• Pats coach Bill Belicheat. I don’t care how cool you think you are. When you are up 52-0 and you leave your QB in to throw another TD, you are begging for an injury. How many Super Bowls since you got caught cheating? Oh ya, zero.

• Cowboy coach Wade Phillips. Why are you on the list on your bye week? That’s how bad a coach you are. I’m actually surprised you didn’t find a way to blow your bye week and get yourself in a football game.

Vikings coach Brad Childress should be on the list but he’s already on the “Coach of the luckiest team in the NFL” list. That’s ok, the "should be 4-2 instead of 6-0" Vikings are about to lose 2 in a row.

NFL Coach of the year so far? 49ers Coach Mike Singletary or Saints coach Shawn Payton who clearly has the best team in the NFC.

Who needs a hug? Titans coach Jeff Fisher, whose team quit on him during the 59-0 rout.
