New Music Tuesday! Fang-Tastic!

The increasingly ubiquitous vampire franchise infiltrates an unsuspecting camp today with the release of Twilight's New Moon soundtrack. Featuring a who's who of indie heavyweights - Tom Yorke, Bon Iver, Sea Wolf and Grizzly Bear, among others - it's sparked waves of somewhat reluctant praise by music lovers who did their best to avoid the film's insistent reach. But, the album bodes well for a generation of listeners who might have otherwise missed out on Veckatimest---

Rosyln - Bon Iver, St. Vincent

Speaking of odd pairings, the new Benjamin Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie) and Jay Farrar (Son Volt) collaboration is in stores. The CD/DVD set One Fast Move Or I'm Gone Music from Jack Keroauc's Big Sur doubles as a soundtrack for a documentary about the legendary beat author. Fans of both artists will find something to love on the release which features plenty of glimmering pedal steel and soft vocals.

These Roads Don't Move - Benja...

My pick of the week: Flight of the Conchords' I Told You I Was Freaky, a diverse "comedy" album that combines humor with bona fide chops. How many other artists can churn out 100 percent solid hip-hop, folk, electronic, Latin and dance hits that don't immediately strike the listener as satire? It's gold. Pure gold straight outta New Zealand.

Carol Brown - Flight Of The Co...

Also worth checking out: White Denim's Fits, Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson's Summer of Fear, Kings of Convenience's Declaration of Dependence and Spiral Stairs' The Real Feal.

Happy record shopping - nothing beats combing for vinyl on a rainy day.
