We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

Reed Cowan's Prop 8 documentary nears release

I've been anticipating the release of Reed Cowan's film 8: The Mormon Proposition since Cowan released the Chris Buttars "pig sex" footage last February.

With luck, we'll be seeing the entire movie in all its glory at the 2010 Sundance Festival. The documentary examines the extreme efforts that the LDS Church has gone to in order to thwart LGBT equality -- and the harm that has come of the church's anti-gay pogrom. ---

As the latest volley in the gays-vs.-Mormon-authorities struggle, it's sure to stir up a shitstorm, so buckle up -- it's going to be a bumpy ride.
