Heavenly Egg Roll



Sometimes, it’s the little things that make your day.  Like getting a perfectly deep fried, crackly egg roll from Pho Tay Ho with your bowl of steaming pho. --- Especially these days, when 20 degrees F. is starting to feel warm compared to, say…the 12 degrees we hit the other night.  I’m talking about owner Huong Mai’s egg roll here, because although my Second Helping column is blessedly short and to the point, sometimes…I want to add just one more bite. So let me add…try the egg roll if you go. It’s nothing new -- just finely ground pork, shredded carrot, slivers of cabbage and noodles -- but it’s so perfectly deep fried, the outer skin crunches and falls off with each bite. Eat with your fingers, (dipping into chili-flecked vinegar). Yes, it leaves your fingers greasy but your tastebuds will be oh so happy. Pho Tay Ho, 1766 South Main St. 801/466-3650
