Hey kids, have
you ever heard of The Streamy Awards? Yeah, me either, at least until last
week. --- In the ever growing world of online content it was a foregone conclusion
that someone, somewhere was bound to create awards for part of it. In fact at a
glancing count there’s about fifty different type of awards for everything from blogging to chatting to viral video.
And one of the awards getting recent exposure in the press are The Streamy
Awards. Its popularity mainly gained from awarding achievements spurned out of
2007’s Writer’s Strike, which produced online content such as “Epic Fu”, “The
Shatner Project”, and “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.” And because of the noteriety of many involved with creating, writing and starting in those projects, its started to become treated as a major awards event. As partially seen below.
I get a sense of what you’re thinking. “Gavin, why the hell do I care and why are you
posting this?” Well as it turns out,
three locally produced web series are currently in the running for different awards.
Raising Kayn – Best New Series
Midnyte – Best Drama
Right now the awards are in the voting process for finalists. If you click on this link here, you can head over and submit your vote for any or all of the series involved. So go support your
local film community and let’s see if one of these series can bring home the… silver…
streamer… thingamajig. What the hell is that thing supposed to be?
