New national parks in Utah?

The mere suggestion that perhaps the Obama Interior Department is considering some new national monuments in Utah has conservatives whipped into a tizzy. A leaked document lists two sites in Utah, among a dozen others, that are worthy of the national monument status.

Those sites are the San Rafael Swell and the Cedar Mesa region, which is chock full of Anasazi ruins. ---

The Hill seems to have broken the story.  The leaked document is here (pdf).

Sen. Orrin Hatch is pissed

Gov. Gary Herbert is reportedly pissed.

I'm sure captains of industry who like to rip apart public lands for private profits are also pissed pissed pissed.

But don't count your San Rafael before it swells. Even the document itself says this is preliminary.
