Yesterday afternoon, New Jersey police fished the body of 18-year-old Rutgers University student Tyler Clementi out of the Hudson River. ---

Clementi leaped to his death from the George Washington Bridge after classmates installed a spy camera in his dorm room and published a sex video of Clementi and another adult male on the Internet.

Hey, great prank, guys! Bet you got a whole bunch of Twitter followers or Facebook friends or whatever out of the deal. Hope your newfound popularity was worth it.

Meanwhile, in Ann Arbor, Mich., assistant Attorney General Andrew Shirvell has apparently been spending his free time exercising his 1st Amendment right to attack the University of Michigan's first openly gay student assembly president, Chris Armstrong.

Shirvell has become so oddly fixated on Armstrong that he's been publishing a blog, "Chris Armstrong Watch," accusing Armstrong of everything from being a racist Nazi to having -- gasp! -- a boyfriend. [Pictured above: An image from Shirvell's blog of Armstrong's face covered with the text "racist elitist liar." Below: another charming image from Shirvell's blog]

Evidently, now that Shirvell's activities have garnered national attention, chris-armstrong-watch.blogspot.com has been restricted to invited readers. However, a good many of the blogs are still available via Google cache (simply click on the "cached" link at the bottom of each search result).

For instance, when Armstrong hosted a dorm-room party, Shirvell's prurient imagination immediately made it out to be some kind of steamy, debauched sex orgy -- because, of course, whenever three or more gays meet for cocktails, they just can't help themselves. Note Shirvell's careful definition of the term "shenanigans."

Anderson Cooper's interview provides a good idea of the kind of man Shirvell really is:
